YOUR VISION + MY INPUT
One of the first things I ask before an engagement session is:
“Do you have a vision for this shoot?”
Maybe you’ve got something specific in mind. Maybe you’ve saved a few photos you love. Or maybe you have absolutely no idea — all of it is totally okay.
The most helpful thing you can do is simply tell me where you’re at. From there, you can lean on me as much or as little as you’d like for creative input. Location ideas, outfits, overall vibe — I’m happy to guide you through all of it.
The only non-negotiable? Timing.
I photograph engagement sessions either in the early morning or in the evening during golden hour, when the light is soft and flattering. Trust me — it makes all the difference.
what feels most like you
Engagement sessions are meant to feel relaxed, personal, and very you.
Weddings naturally come with a bit more formality, so this is your chance to slow things down and show up exactly as you are — jeans, dresses, boots, bare feet, dogs included. The goal isn’t perfection. It’s comfort, connection, and photos that feel like real life.
There’s no right or wrong way to do this. If it feels like you, we’re doing it right.
a quick note on engagement sessions
If your collection includes an engagement session, I always recommend taking advantage of it. It’s such a great way for us to get to know each other before the wedding day and for you to feel confident and comfortable in front of my camera.
If your collection does not include an engagement session, it can absolutely be added on. There’s no pressure — but if you love the idea of a low-key, no-stress session together before the big day, I’m always happy to make space for it.
Either way, it has no impact on your wedding coverage — it’s simply an extra opportunity to create something meaningful together before your wedding day arrives.
Did you book an engagement shoot with me?
If not, I just want to say — they’re truly one of my favourite parts of the process.
Engagement photos are such a great way for us to get to know each other, for you to get comfortable with how I shoot and guide, and for everything on the wedding day to feel more natural and relaxed.
There’s no pressure and no expectations — it’s simply time together, creating photos that feel like you. And honestly? They’re just a lot of fun.
